Rapper Bobby Shmurda has officially been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty for conspiring with a drug gang in several shootings. Oof.
As you may recall, earlier this year, Shmurda took a plea deal in order to avoid being tried and convicted on different charges which could’ve resulted in the Hot Boy artist being slapped with a decades long prison sentence. However, on Wednesday, the up-and-comer attempted to withdraw his plea — but to no avail as a NYC judge denied his request.
Although, some good came out of the sentencing as Bobby’s lawyer noted his client may be eligible to qualify for time served and if he maintains good behavior in jail he could be released early.
It’ll be inneresting to see if the content of B.S.’s music changes over the years, as Shmurda was probably best known for rapping about street violence.
While we’re saddened to see such a young artist heading off to prison, we’re hopeful this time behind bars will help him turn his life around. Fingers crossed.
